Skymax-127 SynScan AZ GOTO 127mm (5") f/1500 Computerised Maksutov-Cassegrain

Deluxe astronomy telescope kit for the more ambitous astronomer featuring the fully computerised robotic Sky Watcher Skymax 127mm Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope.

A larger version of the Skymax-102 providing a massive 55% more light-gathering power, and packing an even more powerful punch than its smaller cousin for medium-to-high-power observations of Planets and other extended targets.

The instrument features a compact but powerful, high-contrast, high-resolution Maksutov-Cassegrain optical system. High-transmission multi-coatings are employed on all optical surfaces for optimum performance. The Skywatcher SynScan Alt-Azimuth GoTo Mount allows you to easily find and observe planets, nebulae, star clusters, galaxies and more. With the easy to use SynScan hand control you can point your telescope at a specific object, or tour the night sky at the press of a button!

Video tour of the SynScan AZ GOTO series (Tip: if you want to cut straight to the main details of the Skymax 127 skip the counter forward to 6:57).

This amazing instrument comes with the essential accessories needed to discover the fascinating hobby of astronomy!

Included in the kit:

Skymax 127 telescope, SynScan computer handset and full-height field tripod and 2 standard eyepieces.

Finds objects automatically! From basic set set-up, to your first ever observations of planets, nebulea or galaxies is a matter of minutes!

The AZ GoTo computer controlled mounting with two ultra high-precision motors (like the ones used in the most sophisticated colour ink-jet printers, only more powerful) that work in synchronization with the SynScan handset's electronic brain and steer the telescope to any object in the sky that you select from simple on-screen menus (just like your mobile phone!) using the illuminated keypad. The mount automatically compensates for the constant rotation of the Earth so that the object (planet, galaxy etc) appears stationary in the eyepiece and allows you to study it in detail.

We know this might sound too good to be true, but it really is like having the brain and knowledge of an expert astronomer built in to the telescope, ready to dispense tireless expertise every time you want it! And if you think it sounds almost too simple and will take away the fun of finding out and learning about the universe for yourself: think again. The best way to learn about almost anything is with the aid of an expert and patient teacher. The Skymax 127 is just that, a PhD-caliber teacher that will let you and your family learn at your leisure and have great fun doing it.

If you've always wanted a top quality telescope for astronomy with advanced Maksutov optics but were worried about the challenge of finding the things you want to see in the night sky, then the portable fully robotic Sky Watcher Skymax 127 with it's advanced computer brain and utra high-resolution optics is the ideal scope.

With its pre-assembled, full height adjustable tripod, the Skymax 127 can be up and ready to use in a matter of minutes.

Easy set-up. The unique SynScan alignment technology and the included optical finder makes aligning and setting up a breeze.

A wonderful first-time astronomical scope, the Skymax 127 can also be used as a great, high powered land-based spotting telescope with optional erect-image diagonal. (but be warned, the 127 is too powerful for all but the most distant observation of shipping and wildlife!)

Skymax 127 features

Synscan Handset Reliable patented computer-control technology is the brains of the scope and knows the location of over 32,000 of the sky's best targets - and after easy aligning the scope (takes just a minute!) the 127 will show you the best of them any minute of any hour of the night! The handset has state-of-the-art flash upgradeable firmware that can be updated via the Internet (a cable to allow this is included - but a USB to serial adapter is required to use and cable and this is not included).

Field Tripod Sturdy steel full height tripod and accessory tray included. Fully adjustable for the best terrestrial and celestial observing and can be set to a low position to facilitate family observing with young children.

Also included as standard:

Two good quality standard eyepieces: 25mm and 10mm (medium to high power).

The Skymax 127 is supplied with a top quality 90 degree mirror star diagonal to allow convenient viewing with no neck strain -the telescope can be switched to straight through viewing or DSLR photography in seconds.

Support pack The instruction manual (in well-written English!) is fully illustrated with clear diagrams. And the telescope comes with the interactive Plansphere map(see banner) as well as a star map wall chart and a guide book to Northern Constellations - all in all, everthing the user needs to discover the night sky.

But don't just take our word for it - here's what just two reviewers (one professional and one amateur) had to say about the SkyMax 127 AZ GoTo:

"This is one of the jewels in the Sky-Watcher’s crown. Its large enough to produce richly detailed, high-contrast Lunar and Planetary images…The Skymax-127 packs a performance punch with a relatively short cool-down time….For daytime terrestrial use, the instrument is quite capable of focusing down to 8 metres"

Ade Ashford www.scopetest.com

"I bought the Skymax 127 AZ Goto for the local school astronomy club and have been testing it this week. Optics are superb, very crisp views of the moon. Extremely easy to set up and very lightweight, which is important for the novice users at school. Just waiting for the astro-video camera to arrive to test it for lunar and planetary imaging, but I have high hopes."

Jeremy Heston (purchase for school astronomy club) The perfect instrument to both discover the night sky as a beginer but also progess to some superb astro-photographic projects that will impress the most demading user.
