The Astro Engineering AC667 Solar-Mate is a clever folding sun shade that fits to telescopes of all sizes and creates a shadow at the eyepiece end of the telescope so that more comfortable observations can be made.

A common source of discomfort when making observations with telescopes fitted with solar filters or other safe solar observation equipment is that, not surprisingly, the sun is always shining when you are observing! And the bright ambient light around the eyepiece makes observing the relatively dim eyepiece view less than ideal.

With the AC667 Solar-Mate in place on your scope you will always have a deep shadow around the eyepiece ensuring a perfect environment for the observer's eye.

The Solar-Mate improves contrast and detail detection and allows the eye to relax ensuring more productive, longer sessions at the eyepiece.

The folding design fits all scopes from 2" to 16" (and over). The Solar-Mate is supplied with a double-sided Velcro strap that allows easy attachment to all scopes in seconds. Made of aluminium and finished in durable black powder-coat paint, the Solar-Mate also has a useful "Solar Facts" data panel printed on one side, so you can remind yourself of what a vast and extraordinary object our nearest star really is.
